Filmmaker / Editor / Photographer / Musician Vandana Kohli was born in 1972, in Mumbai. She graduated in History from Lady Shri Ram college as a Topper from Delhi University, and went on to major in Film Editing from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. Once again she excelled throughout to win the Baburao Patel Prize for Best Student and the Kamlakar V. Karkhanis Prize for Best Film Editor. As a filmmaker, Vandana “brings to her work her passion for excellence. Her craft is sensitive and imaginative, and is tempered with a keen understanding of emerging film and editing technologies that bring sound, visual and feel together as perhaps never before…to make her among India’s most talented filmmakers… to have won her accolades in her field, including the eminent RAPA Award for Best Director for ‘Into The Abyss: A Film on Major Depression’.” - (Rajiv Chandran, National Information Officer for the UN in India) Vandana currently lives and works in Delhi. She has to her credit several films and documentaries that she has scripted, directed and edited. Her work includes projects for The National Geographic Channel, The History Channel, Doordarshan (India’s State Broadcasting National Network) and Star Plus amongst other networks. Other projects include films for various agencies of the United Nations (UNIDO, UNIFEM, WFP, WHO), various ministries of the Government of India amongst other clients. Vandana is also an accomplished photographer and musician. |
