Synopsis

The world’s image of India is rapidly advancing in the new millennium. Poised at the threshold of global economic and technological leadership, brand India is becoming an empowered mantra.

While India’s technical pool and computer capabilities are well known throughout the world, its comparative emergence as a power in Biotechnology, through several inherent advantages, is only just being revealed and understood in world capitals.

LIFE ENCODED (Documentary; duration: 30 minutes) is a succinct film that maps the changing contours of Biotechnology in India. It documents the Indian initiative in various fields of Biotech and captures the endless applications of this “Science of the Century”. It highlights current best practices and efforts in the oil industry, sericulture, in brain research, vaccines, traditional medicine, rice, human health and gene discovery, among others. 

The film’s feel and new-age quality of editing are reflective of the new frontiers of Biotech in India. Its script and presentation, splicing relevant images from research and industry with interviews of current biotech titans in India, highlights not only the Indian achievement, but also the enthusiasm this innovative industry exudes.
